Chairman Nosef Issues Statement On Voter ID

JACKSON- Mississippi Republican Party Chairman Joe Nosef released the following statement regarding voter identification and the 2012 elections:

“In 2011, over 60 percent of Mississippians supported a Constitutional amendment to mandate voter identification in all elections. This occurred after countless volunteers collected more than 100,000 signatures. The obvious will of Mississippians is to require a common sense voter ID. I support Governor Bryant in his call to voluntarily show identification when voting on Tuesday. Even President Obama had to present identification when voting earlier this week. Unfortunately, obstruction from the Obama Justice Department has prevented the new law from taking affect in our state, and that is just one of the many reasons we must support Mitt Romney next Tuesday.”
