Mississippi Republican Party Releases Web Ad:
“Caught in a Cycle”

JACKSON – The Mississippi Republican Party released a web ad today titled “Caught in a Cycle.” The ad features leading Democrat gubernatorial candidates Johnny DuPree and Bill Luckett at their recent debate held at the University of Mississippi.

“Democrats from Washington D.C. all the way to Biloxi, Mississippi, are caught in a cycle of taxing and spending,” said Mississippi Republican Party Chairman Arnie Hederman. “They continue to propose increased spending with no specific cuts or long-term solutions for solving our budget difficulties. If this sounds familiar, it’s because we’ve seen Barack Obama do to the whole country what Mississippi Democrats hope to do to our state. With 14 million Americans out of work, we can’t afford four more years of Obama-style tax-and-spend policies in Jackson.”

LUCKETT: Caught in a cycle – it repeats, it repeats.
DUPREE: Everything goes back to the budget.
DUPREE: Actually, it costs $62 million dollars.

DuPree is referencing a $62 million education program he proposed, which would use the FY 2011 budget surplus to fund for the first year, but does not explain how he would pay for it in following years without tax increases or specific cuts.
