Mississippians look forward to more job opportunities as Governor Phil Bryant announced yesterday that the von Drehle Corporation will be opening up a manufacturing plant in Natchez. The opening is expected to bring at least 100 jobs to the historic city.
Governor Bryant welcomed the new business to Natchez: “I am proud to officially welcome von Drehle to Natchez and as the newest addition to Mississippi’s business community,” Governor Bryant said. “I am grateful to the company for placing its confidence in our business climate and trust in our workers, and I appreciate everyone who worked so hard to bring von Drehle to our state. The company’s decision to locate here once again serves as proof that ‘Mississippi Works!’”
The von Drehle Corp. creates paper products for commercial and industrial consumers.

Congressman Gregg Harper reintroduced a package proposal that revamps federal programs for people who have intellectual disabilities, as they make the change from secondary school into the workforce.
“In order for individuals living with intellectual and developmental disabilities to reach their maximum potential, Congress must enact a systems change,” said Harper, a longtime champion for the disabilities community. “The current federal disability laws are hopelessly outdated and will ultimately lead to unemployment and poverty for these children.”
Congressman Harper’s proposal aims at improving the current system. You can read more about his plan HERE:
Congressman Steven Palazzo is standing up for Boy Scouts of America. The Boy Scouts are under pressure to install openly gay Scout Leaders into their organization. The organization, which holds to firm biblical principles, won the right to keep their conservative criteria in the landmark court case – Boy Scouts of America v. Dale. Congressman Palazzo believes it is our duty to support them.
“As Christian, conservative Mississippians, it is our moral obligation to protect the Boy Scouts’ rich tradition of faith and values from attack by these outside organizations and the media. I strongly encourage you to stand with me to urge the Boy Scouts to stay firm in their refusal to give in to pop culture and liberal advocacy organizations. I ask you to stand with the Boy Scouts and let them know your appreciation for upholding traditional, conservative values including excluding openly gay Scout Leaders and members. Tell Scout leadership not to be pressured into a position that would contradict those values,” stated Congressman Palazzo.
